Fire and emergency services in the 71st Legislative District will benefit from over $457,000 in grants through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program. State Representative Jim Rigby announced the funding, emphasizing its importance for volunteer first responders.

“From equipment and training to vehicles and facilities, the burdens on our incredible volunteer first responders are substantial,” said Rigby. “This state grant program helps to provide some much-needed financial support in their mission to protect our homes and communities.”

The funds are distributed among several organizations, including Adams Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 with $13,955, Ashville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 receiving $16,106, Blacklick Valley Ambulance with $15,000, and Portage Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 receiving $40,322.

These grants come from a legislative program managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Eligible projects include facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training initiatives, or debt reduction.

All qualifying companies that apply receive funding after filing a grant agreement with OSFC.

Jim Rigby represents the 71st Legislative District in Pennsylvania's House of Representatives.
