State Representative Jim Rigby has announced a significant grant for the Gallitzin Borough, aimed at improving broadband access through renovations to the local library. The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority awarded $942,564 under its Multi-Purpose Facilities Grant Program.

Rigby emphasized the importance of broadband in modern infrastructure, particularly for education and learning. "Access to broadband internet is a necessity in today’s world and an essential piece of infrastructure throughout Pennsylvania, especially when it comes to education and learning opportunities," said Rigby. He expressed pride in collaborating with borough officials and the authority to secure funding for the renovation project. "Libraries play a vital role in our communities, and I’m glad I was able to make this possible to benefit residents of the area."

The planned renovations will focus on areas within the Gallitzin Public Library that serve or support its functions. Located at 411 Convent St., this mixed-use community building aims to enhance its services through these improvements.

The Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program provides $45 million in competitive grants for projects that construct, acquire, or improve facilities open to the public. These projects aim to facilitate work, education, and health monitoring.

For further inquiries about this grant or other state government issues, constituents are encouraged to contact Rigby's offices located in Cresson, Ferndale, or Somerset County.
