State Representative Jim Rigby will host a document shredding event for residents of the 71st Legislative District. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Richland Township Fire Department in Johnstown.

Rigby stated, “I am glad to be providing this opportunity for my constituents to safely dispose of documents containing personal information, like Social Security, credit card numbers and more.” He emphasized the importance of shredding unnecessary documents to protect against scams and fraud schemes.

The event has a limit of four boxes or bags per household and is open only to residential customers. Attendees are asked to remove paper or binder clips before arriving; however, staples are allowed.

The 71st Legislative District includes several municipalities in Cambria County such as Adams Township and Ashville Borough, among others. In Somerset County, it includes Ogle Township and Windber Borough.

Residents with questions can contact Rigby's offices in Cresson, Ferndale, or Somerset County.
