Mount Aloysius College has announced the inaugural class of its new Athletic Hall of Fame. Honorees include athletes and coaches who have excelled on and off the field, and each were recognized in their significant era (NJCAA, USCAA, or NCAA) either as MVPs, All Stars, or tournament champions. Hall of Fame recipients will be inducted October 7, as a part of Alumni and Homecoming Weekend. Tim Rigby, long-time news broadcaster for WJAC-TV, will serve as master of ceremonies.

The Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2022 includes these standouts: Brianna Baker ‘08 (women’s basketball and women’s volleyball); Ginger (Fanelli) Claar ‘03 (women’s basketball); Aaron Kovach ‘13 (baseball); Roman Mims ‘08 (men’s basketball); Jalisa (Westover) Murphy ‘14 (softball); Joe DeAntonio, women’s basketball coach 1983-95; and the 2015 AMCC Championship Men’s Soccer Team.

“We’ve always known that Mountie athletes are leaders – both in their sports and in their communities,” said Kevin Kime, athletic director at Mount Aloysius. “We’re so happy to now fully honor their legacies properly in our new Athletic Hall of Fame. It’s a great way to celebrate the history of the athletics department while also shining a light on our future.”

Brianna Baker – Women’s Basketball & Women’s Volleyball / Windber, PA (Windber) – Four-time Volleyball All-AMCC performer (Twice First Team, Twice Second Team), 2004 AMCC Volleyball Newcomer of the Year, 2007 AMCC Preseason Volleyball Player of the Year, Career leader in Kills (1,694), Program record holder for Blocks in a match (11), Blocks in a season (149 in 2006), and career blocks (377), Program best hitting % in match (.81 vs. Lycoming in 2004), season (.421 in 2007), and career (.379). Two-time All-AMCC in Basketball (2nd team in 2008), Third in program history in rebounds (584), Sixth in program history in Career Field Goals made (347), Fourth in program history in blocks (49)

Ginger (Fanelli) Claar – Women’s Basketball / Altoona, PA (Altoona) – School’s All-Time leading scorer (2358 points), Averaged 20.9 PPG for her Career, Tied for Single Game Record with 43 points (Jan. 19, 2003 vs. Apprentice), Career leader in Field Goals Made (753), Field Goal Attempts (1707), Career Three-Point Field Goals (248), Single Season Three-Point Field Goals (80). Member of 2002-03 USCAA Women’s Division I National Championship Team

Aaron Kovach – Baseball / Hollidaysburg, PA (Hollidaysburg) – 2013 ABCA-Rawlings Mid-East All-Region at Third Base (Third Team), 2013 D3Baseball.com Mid-East All-Region at Third Base (2013), 2013 AMCC Player of the Year, 2013 First Team All-AMCC in 2013 (3B), 2012 Second Team All-AMCC in 2012 (3B), Programs All-Time Leader in Games Played (168), 2nd All-time in Hits (218), Career leader in Batting Average (.401), 2nd All-Time in Triples (11)

Roman Mims – Men’s Basketball / Cleveland, OH (Cleveland Heights) – First Team All-AMCC in 2005-06, Second Team All-AMCC in 2006-07, Program’s All-Time Leading Scorer (1623 points), Career Leader in Field Goals Made (585)

Jalissa (Westover) Murphy – Softball / Flinton, PA (Faith Tabernacle) – 2014 AMCC Player of the Year (Second Base), 2012 AMCC Co-Player of the Year (Outfield), Four-time All-AMCC Honoree (3 First Team, 1 Second Team in 2011), Second in Program history in Games Played (147), First in Career Hits (207), First in Career Batting Average (.429), First in Career Doubles (42), Second in Career Triples (17), Second in Career Homeruns (11), First in Career RBIs (141), Second in Career Runs Scored (117), Single-Season records in Hits (62), Doubles (15) and RBIs (55).

Joe DeAntonio – Women’s Basketball Coach from 1983-95 – Career Record of 235-74, best career winning percentage at Mount Aloysius. Six-Time NJCAA Region XX Coach of the Year. Inducted into NJCAA Region XX Hall of Fame in 2003. Teams were nationally ranked 10 out of 11 seasons. Teams made it to three Sweet 16s and one Elite 8. Coached Four NJCAA All-Americans, 16 NJCAA All-Region Honorees, Sent multiple players onto Division I programs.

2015 Men’s Soccer Team – Matt Davis (Coach), 12-7-2 record, AMCC Regular Season Co-Champions, earned #1 seed with Tiebreaker overtime win against Penn State Behrend. Won AMCC Tournament with 1-0 win over Penn State Altoona and Penalty kick win against Penn State Behrend in Championship Game. First AMCC Champion in School History in any sport. First team in School history to appear in the NCAA Tournament. Fell to undefeated, #3 Calvin, 1-0, in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
