2022 graduates of Mount Aloysius College’s surgical technology program have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on their NBSTSA National Certification Exams. The six recent graduates are all now certified surgical technologists with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
Surgical technologists are members of the surgical team who are trained in a variety of surgical specialties . They must understand the use of instruments and techniques required for each type of surgery and anticipate the surgeon’s needs during the procedure. Surgical technologists must be board certified to work in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“I’m proud of our graduates,” said Amanda Minor, chair of the surgical technology department at Mount Aloysius. “The certification exam is designed to really test the necessary skills to make sure that a technologist is ready to step into the operating room. The fact that all of our graduates passed is a great reflection of our program and the skills our students possess.”
