Annual Mount Pink Out Game to Pass $25,000 Raised

Cresson, Pa. – An annual fundraising event held by the Mount Aloysius College women’s volleyball team and the College’s Wellness Committee is set to pass $25,000 total raised in its 14-year history. The Pink Out Game is held annually and raises money for the Joyce Murtha Breast Cancer Center. The 2021 Pink Out Game versus La Roche University will be held October 20 at 7pm in the ACWC.
As of 2020, the College has raised a total of $24,359 for the Windber-based cancer center. Money has been raised through t-shirt sales and basket raffles. So far this year, volleyball players and Wellness Committee members have sold 280 Pink Out shirts, with 25 baskets donated for the raffle. Raffle winners will be announced at the game.
“The Pink Out Game is always a great way for our college to come together and really support each other,” said Brianna Baker, head coach of the Mount’s women’s volleyball team. “We have had many players and coaches through the years that have been affected by breast cancer–parents, friends, relatives, even our own Mount employees. It’s important to us to honor the survivors and remember those that we’ve lost.”
Before the game, Charlene’s School of Dance, a dance academy located in Cresson, performs a specially choreographed breast cancer awareness dance. Survivors participate in the dance. Members of the volleyball team recognize the people in their lives affected by breast cancer by putting flowers in a vase or giving the person a flower if they are in attendance.
The game is free for all attendees. Masks are required at all indoor sporting events per AMCC guidelines. For more information about the game, visit MountieAthletics.com.
