Session 1: Exploring the Practice of Sabbath and Spiritual Direction

WHEN

Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Speakers

The Conference Discipleship Team is hosting two online events on Exploring the Practice of Sabbath and Spiritual Direction.

Join us online for two one-hour sessions from 12-1 p.m. on Thursdays October 27 and November 17 as we spend time together learning about the practice of Sabbath and Spiritual Direction.

Sabbath is both a concept and a practice that is central to our faith. Established at creation, and emphasized throughout the Bible, God commands us to spend time in Holy Rest. Unfortunately, this practice has all but vanished in our busy, over-scheduled world. In this session we will spend time exploring how we can recover this life-giving activity.

From the earliest days of Christianity people have sought out a ‘spiritual friend’ to help us on our walk with God. This practice of sacred listening and conversation has come to be called Spiritual Direction. In this session we will explore the nature of this activity and come to understand how valuable it is to have others join us on our journey.

The sessions will include times of teaching, prayer practice, and provide an opportunity to ask questions.

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required to get the ZOOM connection information.

A separate registration is required for each session.

Register for the November 17 session.
