State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) will host a seminar for businesses and organizations that hold liquor licenses and offer small games of chance. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cresson Volunteer Fire Company, located at 223 Ashcroft Ave., Cresson.

Rigby encourages those interested in attending to register in advance by calling his office at 814-886-1055 or visiting his website at www.RepJimRigby.com and clicking on the “Events” tab.

“The laws, regulations and rules governing small games of chance can be complex, so it’s natural for local liquor license holders to have questions,” Rigby said. “This workshop is an opportunity for businesses and organizations to get answers to those questions and learn the standards set by law.”

“Officer Zachary Hochrein from the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement will open with a presentation that will be followed by a question-and-answer session,” he added.

Pennsylvania law permits eligible organizations to conduct certain types of games such as pull tabs, punchboards, raffles, daily drawings, weekly drawings, 50-50 drawings, race night games and pools. The seminar aims to provide an overview of gambling laws and small games of chance regulations, outline responsibilities for liquor license holders, and offer updates on legislation that could impact current laws.
