State Rep. Jim Rigby responded on Apr. 27 to a series of shootings that have taken place in the Moxham neighborhood of Johnstown, calling the incidents alarming and expressing concern for those affected.
Rigby said, “Three shootings in the last four days in the City of Johnstown are both alarming and deeply concerning. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and all residents who are feeling the impact of this violence.” He added that although Johnstown is outside his legislative district, public safety is a shared responsibility for everyone in the region.
“Those responsible must be identified and held fully accountable. At the same time, preventing further violence and avoiding retaliation must be an immediate priority,” Rigby said. He also stated his confidence in local law enforcement and city officials: “I have confidence in local law enforcement and the elected officials who protect and represent the city, and I stand ready to assist at the state level in any way that may be helpful – whether through resources, coordination, or support.”
Rigby represents areas within Cambria and Somerset counties as part of Pennsylvania’s 71st Legislative District according to his official website.
