Mount Aloysius College issued the following announcement on Dec. 14.
Mount Aloysius College has been awarded a $550,000 grant through the Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) which will help to fund the Ihmsen Hall Living and Learning Project, directly impacting the College’s current and future residential students.
This project brings additions and upgrades to Ihmsen Hall, the oldest detached residence hall on the Mount Aloysius College campus. Funds from the grant will support a variety of enhancements including study rooms, meeting rooms, a private lounge area for building resident students, and a lounge for visiting students and guests. The grant also supports additional structural updates to the building, including the addition of an elevator, electrical, fire protection and code upgrades, and ADA compliant dorm rooms.
“We are extremely grateful for those who played a role in helping us secure this grant,” said John McKeegan, president of Mount Aloysius College. “Special thanks to Senator Langerholc who was very supportive throughout the application process, as well as Representative Burns and the Cresson Township Supervisors.”
The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. The College draws about 25 percent of its students from Cambria county, and nearly another 40 percent from the surrounding counties of Bedford, Blair, Clearfield, and Somerset.
