State Senator Wayne Langerholc and State Representative Jim Rigby have announced that more than $1.5 million in Commonwealth Financing Authority grants will be allocated to infrastructure projects in Cambria County.

Rigby acknowledged the competitive nature of these grants, stating, “Grants like these are competitive in nature, so we commend our local government leaders for being proactive in dealing with their individual projects. These are all much-needed upgrades to infrastructure and we’re happy to be able to assist them with these necessary improvements.”

The funding is divided among several recipients through the Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Small Water and Sewer Program.

Under the Multimodal Transportation Fund:
– Penn Cambria School District will receive $780,572 for transportation improvements near the high school and a new wing for elementary students.
– Scalp Level Borough is awarded $157,971 to improve Main Street from the border with Richland Township to the intersection with Locust Street/State Route 3015.
– South Fork Borough will get $265,835 for paving B Court, 3rd Court, 4th Court, and Portage Street.

Langerholc said, “By repaving aging roads and improving traffic flow, these projects will enhance safety and mobility. These investments will have a positive, long-term impact on area residents.”

Rigby added, “These projects address both improvements to existing projects and aging infrastructure. Sen. Langerholc and I are proud to work with local leaders and partner with each other in order to finalize funding for them.”

Through the Small Water and Sewer Program:
– Forest Hills Municipal Authority receives $238,160 for a mainline extension project connecting residents of Fifty Acre Road, Countryside Lane, Weaver Road, and Naugle Drive with public sewer service.
– Municipal Authority of the Borough of Portage gets $81,838 to address sewage issues near Mountain and Park avenues.
– Scalp Level Borough is granted $39,268 to address stormwater runoff and subsurface drainage issues along Park Avenue.

“These funds will help support expensive, but crucial, water and sewer projects in our communities,” said Langerholc. “I am glad to work with Rep. Rigby to deliver this essential support for local infrastructure and public health.”
