John Joyce, M.D., a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 13th district, shared several messages on social media reflecting on historical events and current issues. Joyce has been serving in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Bill Shuster.
On May 8, 2025, Joyce commemorated the end of World War II in Europe by acknowledging the sacrifices made by the “Greatest Generation.” He urged others to join him in celebrating their courage and strength, emphasizing their role in protecting freedom for future generations. “Today marks 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe. Join me in celebrating the incredible courage, sacrifice, and strength that our nation’s ‘Greatest Generation’ showed to protect freedom for generations to come.”
Later that day, Joyce addressed concerns regarding foreign influence within American educational institutions. He expressed his support for legislation aimed at curbing Chinese military activities within universities. According to Joyce, this measure is necessary to safeguard American higher education from espionage and propaganda efforts. “We cannot allow the Chinese Military to continue using our universities to spy on American citizens and peddle propaganda.” He added that he was proud to back legislation designed to eliminate such influences.
On May 11, 2025, Joyce extended well wishes for Mother’s Day to mothers and grandmothers residing in Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District. His message highlighted their roles as guides and supporters within families. “Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and grandmothers throughout Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District who guide us, pray for us, and love us.”
John Joyce was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1957 and currently resides in Hollidaysburg. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979.
