John Joyce, M.D., a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 13th district since 2019, recently used his social media platform to highlight themes of patriotism, military service, and tax policy.
On February 23, 2026, Joyce posted about national pride in connection with recent athletic achievements and the upcoming State of the Union address: “Patriotism on full display — from inspiring Olympic victories to tomorrow’s State of the Union. Proud of our nation and the strength that unites us.”
Later that day, he paid tribute to military service members from his home region: “Saluting the heroics of U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Michael Strank of Cambria County and all of the active-duty military who were part of the Battle of Iwo Jima.” The reference to Sergeant Michael Strank highlights local ties to historic events; Strank was one of six Marines immortalized in the iconic flag-raising photograph at Iwo Jima during World War II.
On February 25, Joyce addressed federal tax policy for seniors under former President Donald Trump’s administration: “Under the Trump Administration, Washington finally delivered major tax cuts for our seniors. The Working Families Tax Cuts (which I voted for) ends double taxation on Social Security and gives seniors a $6,000 tax deduction! @POTUS made a promise: to deliver real economic”
Joyce was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1957 and currently resides in Hollidaysburg. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He succeeded Bill Shuster as representative for Pennsylvania’s 13th congressional district.
