John Joyce, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 13th district since 2019, recently posted a series of statements on his official social media account addressing federal funding for essential workers and honoring military service members.

On March 26, 2026, Joyce announced his vote to support funding for the Department of Homeland Security. He stated, “Once again, I voted today to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Over 100,000 DHS workers across agencies like FEMA, TSA, and CISA deserve to be paid for their selfless and critical work protecting our safety. Democrats’ misguided decision to use essential workers’”.

Two days later, on March 28, 2026, Joyce reflected on a ceremony honoring Specialist Krystofer Lopez by referencing Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. He wrote, “As we leave this place of remembrance, we carry with us the enduring words of Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address—that Specialist Krystofer Lopez gave his ‘last full measure of devotion.’ For that, we as a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a nation, and as a community”.

On March 29, 2026, Joyce commemorated National Vietnam Veterans Day with a message recognizing veterans’ sacrifices. He posted: “Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who served during the Vietnam War. On National Vietnam Veterans Day, we recognize your courage, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Thank you for your service and the legacy you carry. We are forever grateful.”

Joyce has represented Pennsylvania’s 13th District in Congress since succeeding Bill Shuster in 2019. Born in Altoona in 1957 and currently residing in Hollidaysburg at age 66, he is an alumnus of Pennsylvania State University where he earned his BS degree in 1979.
