State Representative Jim Rigby has announced a significant development for Gallitzin Borough. The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority has allocated a $942,564 grant to the borough through its Multi-Purpose Facilities Grant Program. This funding will support renovations at the Gallitzin Public Library.
Rigby emphasized the importance of broadband internet access in modern society, especially for educational and learning opportunities. “Access to broadband internet is a necessity in today’s world and an essential piece of infrastructure throughout Pennsylvania, especially when it comes to education and learning opportunities,” said Rigby. He expressed pride in collaborating with borough officials and the authority to secure this grant, which will cover the entire renovation project cost. “Libraries play a vital role in our communities, and I’m glad I was able to make this possible to benefit residents of the area.”
The library renovations are planned for their mixed-use community building located at 411 Convent St., focusing on areas that serve or support library functions.
The Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program provides $45 million in competitive grants aimed at community anchor institutions and local government units. These grants are intended for projects that construct, acquire, or improve public facilities enabling work, education, and health monitoring.
