Amsbry United Methodist Church issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.

Connellsville Area Community Ministries held a special luncheon and Christmas celebration at its downtown store location on December 22 to honor its many volunteers for the thousands of hours given in support of the ministry. During the event a surprise announcement was made.

Barry Craig, the chair of the board of directors, told board members, staff and volunteers that the mortgage on the store location mortgage had been paid off five years early. He attributed the early payoff to the tremendous support at last year’s telethon and support by so many volunteers and donors.

Tammy Marchewka was named Volunteer of the Year for her countless hours of service.  Tammy is a member of the Owensdale United Methodist Church, where she serves as the finance chair and historian. Her inspiration, she said, was the late Rev. Kimberly King, who was such a great model of service.

All the volunteers were entertained as Santa Claus, who resembled Wes Boots, gave them tokens of appreciation.

Connellsville Area Community Ministries is looking forward to another great year of serving in 2022 with expanded ministries in the newly refurbished community building they received from the Connellsville Borough.
