Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center has released its community benefit report for the 2024 calendar year, detailing its efforts to support the health and economic vitality of the Greater Johnstown area. This report is part of the hospital’s mission to make communities healthier.

Rodney D. Reider, CEO of Conemaugh Health System, stated, “For more than 135 years, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center has been proud to call Johnstown and the Laurel Highlands our home, and as a leader in our community, we are committed to providing high-quality care close to home, investing in our region’s overall well-being and making a positive impact on those we serve.” He emphasized that this year’s report highlights their commitment to quality care both inside and outside the hospital.

The 2024 report outlines various initiatives by CMMC to address growing healthcare needs. These include adding new providers in several medical fields such as emergency medicine and cardiology, expanding service lines, and investing over $19 million in facility improvements like emergency department renovations and ICU upgrades. Additionally, CMMC provided over $29 million in health services for those unable to pay.

CMMC also focused on creating favorable environments for its staff by distributing over $237 million in salaries and benefits to approximately 2,450 employees. Nearly $6 million was invested in professional development and tuition assistance for staff enhancement.

The organization paid more than $36 million in local and state taxes while supporting numerous local activities and organizations including the American Heart Association and The United Way of Laurel Highlands among others.

Reider expressed gratitude saying, “We feel fortunate to call the greater Johnstown area our home, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support of all those who entrust us with their care.” He added that they remain committed to enhancing their service offerings as they look towards the future.
