Conemaugh Nason Medical Center has announced that its Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has received national certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The accreditation recognizes the hospital’s efforts to provide patient-centered care for individuals recovering from heart disease and surgery.
Cardiac rehabilitation programs assist patients who have experienced heart attacks, undergone coronary artery bypass graft surgery, or faced other cardiovascular issues. These programs use structured exercise, education, counseling, and support to help patients and their families work toward better health outcomes.
“We are extremely proud to earn this certification through the AACVPR,” said Michelle Buttry, Chief Operating Officer of Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. “Our exceptional cardiac rehabilitation team goes above and beyond every day to support our patients in their recovery and long-term health. This achievement reflects their dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence.”
The AACVPR’s certification process is known for its rigor. It requires applicants to provide comprehensive documentation showing compliance with nationally recognized standards. Each application is reviewed by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee before final approval by the organization’s Board of Directors.
Since 2018, AACVPR has used an outcomes-based approach for its certifications. This process focuses on measurable improvements in patient results as a way to identify programs that deliver effective care. Certified programs are considered leaders in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation practices nationwide. Conemaugh Nason’s program will hold its accreditation until 2028.
