State Rep. Jim Rigby will hold a ceremony to rename the bridge on Pennsylvania Route 53 over Patty’s Run in Gallitzin Township, Cambria County. The bridge will be dedicated as the USMCWR Mary A. Lidwell Memorial Bridge.

Mary A. Lidwell was born in Amsbry, Cambria County. In 1943, she volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and joined the Women’s Aviation Reserve Squadron. After her military service, Lidwell became active in her community through volunteer work and by serving in local government.

Rigby will be joined at the event by members of the Lidwell family. The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m., and will take place at Ashville VFW Post 4315, located at 158 Main St., Ashville.
