State Representative Jim Rigby will hold a ceremony to dedicate the Gallitzin Road/State Route 53 in Cambria County as the Corporal James R. Beck USMC Memorial Bridge. The bridge crosses the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks in Gallitzin Township.

Corporal James R. Beck, an alumnus of Cresson Joint High School, now known as Penn Cambria High School, lost his life on October 23, 1968, due to an explosive device in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 24 at 1 p.m. It will take place at American Legion Post 238 located at 222 Ashcroft Ave., Cresson. Members of the Beck family are expected to attend alongside Rep. Rigby.
